Legal Question in Family Law in California

I am 65 and unemployed, with a 17 year old son. After my ex takes my son's check and half of mine, I'm left with $403, after a $1500 start. My Unemployment Insurance runs out in a few months. I cannot live anywhere on $400 a month, and can't get a passport, either. Please help. I'm having to leave my apartment in Santa Monica in two weeks, and will be homeless. I used to have joint custody, but didn't go to the last court date, and she has full. Much more- religious brainwashing, refusal to divulge my son's address, lying about my income, etc. 310 428 3825 is my phone number, name Mike Roddy.

My first best advice to you at this time is to immediately file for Social Security early retirement benefits. While you may experience a reduction in these benefits over the long term, you are eligible (you are now 65) and your son would be eligible for dependents' benefits on your account so you would not have any further current support payments. SSA can expedite matters for individuals who are homeless or who are at risk of homelessness. You should also consider filing for a modification of the support order.
