my adult daughter got pregnant in a mental hospital by a mental patient. they are both being dicharged home because they are mentally stable enough to leave. can my daughter file for child support even though he was mentally ill in a hospital when she got pregnant.

Yes, the obligation to pay child support, like parentage, does not require mental competency.

She sure can. Child support is due based on ability to pay, not mental competence at any point in time.
