Legal Question in Family Law in California

Im in arrears with child support payments in california, after calling the child support div in Los Angeles they told me that I had to negotiate with my ex wife ,my sons are 25 and 29 now .They also informed me that there was no court order to enforce a wage garnagement but that my passport was being denied, now Im planning to fly back from the Dominican Republic. How do I handle this

They're yanking your chain. Only the Department of Child Support Services has authority to settle child support arrearages.

Well, actually, they're not yanking your chain. Now that the children are over 18 and child support services is merely collecting arrearages, there is the possibility that you could settle the case with your wife for a smaller amount, and then she would have to close the case with child support services. Get everything in writing!
