Legal Question in Family Law in California

birth certificate and missing information

a female has a baby, on the birth certifacate under the father's name she responded with ''unknown''. if she claims there are 3 males that could be the father, how can she prove who the actual father if the 3 males refuse to take a paternity test? can a court order the 3 males to be tested, or does the fact that she placed ''unknown'' under the father's name on the birth certificate release the actual father from liability?

Re: birth certificate and missing information

Not placing the father's name on the birth certificate does not release him from his duty to support the child. You have two possibilities you can contact the local child support enforcement agency and see if they will assist you. If necessary you could request public assistance for you child. The other option is for you to personally pursue the father. To do that you would look at your child and then make your best guess as to who the father is. Of course you would also take into account the sexual actitivy at you best estimate of the date of conception. If the first try is not successful then try again with the next best option.
