Legal Question in Family Law in California
Can California charge me for child support arrears if the court order was closed and not beingn enforced? I was paying the mother directly through a private agreement.

If you were supposed to pay the county child support services department, then any payments you made directly to the other parent do not count.

If you have proof that you were paying the mother support by canceled checks cashiers checks etc., those credits can be applied to the child support arrears. If you paid her cash with no proof, then you would receive no credit for those payments.
