Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Support Services is telling me that even though my ex has legal guardianship of my daughter and makes 3 times as much as I do, I am still solely financially responsible for her. Is that right?

If someone has legal guardianship over the child, that means that they are taking custody of the child, however the parental duties of child support are still your responsibility. If you want to reduce your child support liability then you should start to take custodyb ack of the child and provide for them financially.

For self represented individuals you can consult with the family law facilitator self help center at your local court house.

As always please consult a local attorney prior to taking legal action. Good luck. Also please check out my Santa Clara County Family Lawyer blog.
