Legal Question in Family Law in California

I am trying to go to court to get my $25,000 that my ex husband owes me that in california I use to get through child support however the child support was paid of and child support said they can no longer go after him for the remaining spousal support. I went to the court house and they don't know what documents I need to see the judge. can someone tell which documents I need. the spousal support was a in the being taken from his paycheck along with the back child support.
