If there is a change in the parties income or child custody percentage the court will modify the child support order up or down as appropriate. You will not lose the opportunity to have the court hear your motion to modify child support in the future if you drop your current motion. But you should be aware that, the earliest date the court will make the new order is the time that you originally filed your motion. If you drop this motion and file another one a year from now, then the earliest possible change to the support order will be the date that you filed the new motion.
