Legal Question in Family Law in California

I filed for divorce in pro per a couple months ago. I am on Social Security disability now because of a work injury 2 years ago. I receive 890.00 for my 17 year old child from SS as well as 1700.00 a month for myself from SS. The wife makes about $5500 gross a month. Our hearing is coming in 3 weeks. I assume child support but what about spousal support? Also after my 17 year old turns 18 in 10 months the 890.00 goes away from SS as well as the child support payments. This will leave me with $1700.00 a month and the ex making $5500. Does spousal support sound reasonable? She believes she doesn't owe me a thing. We were married 17 years. Not sure if we should go to mediation, get a lawyer or what? Thank you.

Spousal support is awarded by the court after the court analyzes several factors. You have set forth some good grounds, but if you are going to represent yourself, you should familiarize yourself with the statute that sets forth the factors, so that you can help the court make the right decision.
