Legal Question in Family Law in California

financial responsibilities for miscarriage

My ex-girlfriend was pregnant, refused abortion, and then had a miscarriage. I had offered to pay for her abortion, but she was threatening to ruin my meager financial life with child support payments (I am 23 and she is 40)....

Now she is demanding I pay half of the medical bills for her miscarriage, or she will sue. I do not want to pay. Do I have to? I never took a paternity test, does this matter?

thank you for your assistance.

Re: financial responsibilities for miscarriage

No, she cannot manipulate and/or misuse the justice system to "blackmail" you per se. You are not legally obligated to pay her medical costs under such circumstances, nor should you be harassed needlessly by the woman at issue. If you would like prompt, affordable assistance by our Law Firm to send this woman a legal cease and desist letter, contact us today for a free phone consultation.
