Legal Question in Family Law in California

can i be forced to pay child support for a child that isn't mine? I was told i was the father, so i stepped up and assisted her through pregnancy; emotionally, financially, and physically. At the hospital the day of birth, i signed the birth cert. and an additional paper that i had to sign because we weren't married. Three weeks later, i receive the results of a home paternity test. I am NOT the father........... the next step is a legally binding paternity test. However, can i still be held liable for child support and other things because i was TRICKED into thinking i was the father??????? Am i going to be completely screwed!!??

You are not going to be screwed if you get your A@# moving and file a petition to determine paternity, and request genetic testing.

If it has been less than 60 days, you can revoke the declaration of paternity. If not, there is still a chance but it is much harder. Mr. Roach is right on the money on this one. Get your A*# moving. Quit asking free questions and get in to see a lawyer TODAY to make sure this gets undone correctly. You can wind up on the hook for a child that is not yours if you blow your opportunities to undo it. GET MOVING.
