Legal Question in Family Law in California

I live in california and is there any circumstances that would allow my ex to recieve child suppor past the completion of 12 th grade or 19 th birthday. Do I have to paychild support if said child goes to college

Yes IF you make an agreement to pay further child support it can be enforced. For example if guy agrees to support the child till age 21 a court will enforce that agreement.

Child support automatically ends, even if the order is silent, when the child turns 18 AND is no longer a full time high school student OR turns 19 regardless of education status. Mr. Kubler mentions one exception, which is if the parents settlement agreement and judgment includes an express agreement to continue support. The other is in the case of special needs children who would otherwise have to become wards of the state. Absent your agreement or a special needs child, you cannot be compelled to pay support beyond the statutory limits.
