I have encountered too many sad situations as you report in my over 30 years as a family law attorney. Bottom line...you need to protect yourselves. If he is threatening your health or saftey, please call the police and discuss your circumstance with the police department desk Sargent so they are familiar with your situation and may have some additional police focused suggestions. You really should consult with an experienced family law attorney to discuss your situation to determine if personal restraining orders and home removal orders are an option.
