Married in Illinois-Reside in California

Do we have to get remarried (is remarriage even possible?)or do the marriage and divorce laws of the state we were married in (illinois) cross over to California, or are we now under California law?

A marriage in any state is recognized in all states. As are marriages in most countries around the world.

A dissolution is filed in the State in which the parties reside and the laws of that state are used for the dissolution. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
