Paternity

If a person signs paternity papers even though they know they are not the legal parent, is this person legally responsible for the child once divorce takes place?

I am assuming you have signed a document called, "Voluntary Declaration of Paternity", prepared by the State of California. If so, there is a conclusive presumption of paternity. At least that is what the law says. Nevertheless, apparently, some judges do not take that law too seriously as I have seen some judges frequently set aside those declarations like they were setting aside old clothing.
