If you have physical custody of your child for more then 50% of the time, OR you have an agreement with the child's other parent to give you the tax deduction because it will be tax and support advantaged to both of you (usually the case) then yes. But if you have 50% or less custodial time and no agreement, then the deduction goes to the other parent.
