Legal Question in Family Law in California

I have sole physical and legal custody of my 6 year old. Her dad does not see her due to his unsafe behavior of drugs, getting arrested, and at one point put her in harms way. i am getting married in July and want to know the process of allowing my new spouse to adopt or guardianship my daughter. He has been helping me raise her since ahe was 3. i want to make sure if something happens to me, she will stay with my new spouse. Thank You.

You would need to file for a Step Parent Adoption. Along with that you would file a Petition to Terminate the rights of the biological father. I would highly recommend that you get a qualified and experienced adoption attorney to help you with this. Good luck!
