Legal Question in Family Law in California

can i go out of state if i have joint custody?

My ex-boyfriend and custody of our older daughter, but he hasn't seen her in 2 years and will not give her the number to contact her. We have a job and place waiting for us in another state if we could get there in a month or two. If we just left with her can I get in trouble for kiddnapping if we just go? I cannot wait around for 1-2 years of going to court.

You should contact an attorney regarding this move. It should not take years to resolve this matter. If dad has not had contact for two years a motion requesting a court order allowing you to move should be granted by the court. He may not even object to the move. He will have to convince the court that the move will be detrimental to your daughter.
