What can an employer do, once an employee has used all 12 weeks of FMLA leave?

Does an employer have to keep a position open, once an employee has used all 12 weeks of their FMLA leave and are stillunable to return to work?

demand return to work or be fired for abandonment. Try to work out a voluntary unpaid leave.
