Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Abbreviation N.B.

What does the abbreviation N.B. mean in the legal industry? When I was a paralegal in private practice, all the attorneys in our office used it. My understanding was ''to note it well,'' ''Pay close attention,'' ''attention needed asap.'' Generally something of great importance. This was usually used with legal documents or pleadings.

I always thought it meant something like ''note bene.''

Never heard of anyone using that... but I would assume it means non-binding.
