Forever. However, if a conviction or guilty plea, you may be able to change this to not guilty by filing under Penal Code 12402.4 and .5

Permanently, unless they are expunged. Expungement is only available for misdemeanors and certain non-violent felony convictions. Expungement only removes convictions from a person's *public* records; the police and courts will always be able to find out about them.

Forever. But, if you want to expunge a conviction to allow you better chances at employment, I can help you. Expunging means the conviction is withdrawn and charges dismissed, for most public purposes other than police inquiry.
