Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

It was brought to my attention that someone has posted on a public blog about me and a former place that I worked at as a referral consultant and they have made false and defaming statements about me. I asked the owner of the blog site to remove my name from the post because it has and can continue to hinder my business. Instead of removing my name from the post -- he simply responded to it mentioning my name once again and also posted it on his Twitter account where he has over 14,000 "fans"

Do I have any rights under law? The statements to begin with are false and slanderous.

I appreciate your feedback.

Rights? Sure. If you have grounds to support your allegations of slander, you could sue the people involved if you can located them to serve, seeking a writ or restraining order to remove the posting. You'll spend some money in court costs and attorney fees, and in reality there is no effective way to stop the spread of the 'slander'. Once you attack someone like this, the likelihood is that the posts will spread like wildfire, with additional 'unpleasant' comments about you trying to stifle free speech and the 'truth'. If it is important enough to your income and reputation to try, feel free to contact me to discuss what effective ways there are to improve this situation.
