Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

car liability

Hi,

I own several cars. Two of my kids are registered drivers under my insurance policy.

Am I liable if one of my kids get an accident while driving one of my cars? Can someone come after me just because I own the car?

Of course you're liable. Registered owners are liable for any damages caused by permissive drivers, family or otherwise. The law places some limits on that liability, and your insurance is intended to cover you up to such limits.
