Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

car liability

I sold a car 1 year ago. The transfer is not complete. buyer has unpaid parking tickets preventing the transfer. Buyer keeps getting parking tickets. tickets being sent to my current address. release of liability is on record. DMV tells me to send copy to ticket agency releasing my liability. This has happened before. DMV can not do anything for me. transfer needs to be complete on buyers end. I do not know where buyer currently is. she has moved and does not return my phone calls. police can not help me, they told me to contact DMV. DMV told me to contact big office in Sacramento, Sacramento told me to call DMV. DMV told me to contact an Attorney. I don't know what to do to get my name off this car. Is there any legal action I can take? How can I find her? All I want is my name off this car. Did mention she has not paid me in full..? She essentially stole my car, and is running the streets with my name still on it doing who knows what. she is a 20 year old low life that is supposedly not in contact with her own family. At least that is what they tell me. They also refuse to give me her mothers address. can anyone help me???

Re: car liability

Next time, follow the rules - immediately send in your half of the title document showing your transfer to the buyer at their address.

If the police won't take a theft report, and you can't find her, there is nothing you can do until you locate her. Even then, what do expect to be able to do? Sue her for the price, then hope to collect some money someday. You could hire an investigator to locate her, if you have any of her ID info.
