Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
Civil Lawsuit on a credit card
I have court order to appear to discuss a debt owed on a credit card. The company has since then filed for bankruptcy. What steps should I take to resolve this? What happens if I do not show-up for this arbitration? Should I contact the attorneys myself before the court date to resolve this issue?

Do not contact or speak to the other attorneys until you have consulted with an independent attorney in whom you have confidence. Never get your legal advice from someone else's attorney.
I can't determine from your question whether you are supposed to go to an "arbitration" or whether the document you received is an "order for appearance of judgment debtor." What is the date you are supposed to appear? Did you receive any other court papers on this case in the past? If so, when? How old is the credit card debt? Is the plaintiff in the lawsuit the same company that extended the credit, or is it a collection agency? You may have important legal rights.
