Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

depoisition

I am in a legal battle, one where 100% of liabilty is on the defendant now the defandents are wanting to depo my parents askign for bank documents providing any money given to me since 2006 when this has nothing to do with me being rear ended by a semi with many hard tissue injuries? Any privacy laws that my parents can use in this situation? thank you

Re: depoisition

If you have an attorney, he'll be able to give you specific advice and be able to handle the matter correctly by filing motions for any appropriate protective orders. All you can be given here are 'handy hints' and general direction and guidance. There may, or may not, be grounds to object to the deposition document request based on privacy or other things, but that decision will require review of all the facts with you. Depositions are quite wide reaching, and the other side is generally entitled to any relevant material, and your income is probably relevant. If you dont' have counsel, and you're serious about getting counsel, feel free to contact me.

Re: depoisition

Your lawyer should be able to file for a protective order. If you were really rear-ended by a semi and you don't have a lawyer, what does that say about you?

Re: depoisition

You do have statutory and Constitutional right to privacy. Do not let them walk all over you. If you're unrepresented, I strongly recommend you to get a lawyer.
