Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Divorce/credit card debt

Prior to our marriage my estranged wife had accumulated approximately $50,000 in credit card debt. After our marriage she aquired more credit cards and loans in order to pay off the debt she already had previous to our marriage. All debts are in her maiden name and prior married name and I had no knowledge that she was doing any of this. Am I responsible for any of these debts.

Re: Divorce/credit card debt

Yup, as to the community debts incurred during marriage, like credit cards. No, as to the old debts, but they are paid off already. All you have no is an argument in the divorce about debt responsibility.
