Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Duty to Warn of Threat of Bodily Harm of a Minor in the Care of an Adult not a G

Where should I search? I have been in Cal., but getting too many hits.

If a little league coach is told by the coach of another team in that leage that ''my team will hurt your team,'' does he have a duty to report the threat to the officials and/or the sponsoring venue (YMCA)? If he does not report such threat, could he be liable if some related injury came to one or more of the children?

I am hopeful, the coach did not mean the words as they were understood by you and me both, however, I believe this should be discussed with the powers to be at the Y.

The question seems to be vague. If the coach actually trained or knowingly permits his young charges to be overly aggressive to the point of physical violence, it should be reported. The coach could face civil liability as well. Baseball is one of the last sports that has remained relatively free of combat. If it's just hype -- and it really doesn't belong in a little league game, anyway -- then there's little one can do except show him that your (child's) team is better than his. Of course, it wouldn't hurt if the "Y" told the coach to cool his rhetoric and engage in sportsmanlike conduct.
