My former employee is blackmailing me. How can I best handle this without losing my job ?

You have to tell us what is occurring. How can we answer a question containing no facts or information. Also, how can the other person be an employee, which means you own the business, but at the same time you are an employee?
I agree with Mr. Shers. If the blackmail involves payment of "hush money," it might be criminal, in which case you might want to call in law enforcement.
IF you mean actual blackmailing, such as threatening to expose criminal or immoral conduct in return for 'silence money', then you either report it to the police and press charges, or pay the price, or ignore the threats. You also would have the grounds for a civil lawsuit if you can prove what you allege, and if what he/they are doing is actually illegal or a 'tort' under civil law. No one is going to give you a magic wand answer to make this all better without risk.
