Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Someone filed a civil lawsuit against me. I hired a lawyer and defended myself, but soon I ran out of money. I choose to run away from the stress, went to another country.

I thinking I lost the case and owe money, which I understand.

Will I get arrested at the airport when I go back to the States for comtempt of court or for one of the motions "fraud"?

While the judge hearing the trial was not happy at your leaving without telling anyone, once you were got a default judgment was probably taken. If any contempt of court punishment was being considered, the judge would hold a hearing for you to explain. A ciminal warrent would not likely be issued. The charges of fraud would not result in a criminal charge.

You should be safe to return. Perhaps write to the Justice Department to reassure your self [say you are the attorney for X who wants to know if any pending charges]. This answer assumes the trial did not involve a governmentall agency.

A civil case does not result in criminal 'arrest warrants'. You probably have a money judgment against you, which will result in collection action against your income and assets if you have any here.
