Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

filing class action suit in adjacent county

This is for a fiction work (novel)and refers to filing a class-action suit in Superior Court naming several co-defendants and seeking compensatory damages. Physical loss occurred in the county of Ventura but defendants in common's domiciles are in Los Angeles County. Ideally, claim should be filed in the larger county. Change of venue or-- what other legal step is necessary? Thank you a million for a reply and proper credit will be given for answer.

Re: filing class action suit in adjacent county

You have two choices, to file in the county where to tort took place or the county in which the defendants reside. If you file in LA the defendants can't complain as it is deemed more convenient for them to be in LA as they reside there. LA juries tend to give larger awards than my experience has shown trying cases in Ventura.
