Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

I had a friend i thought was close . He decided over something silly to sue me and blame me for downloading avirus in his computer. breaking it and he told me i am going to hear from his attorney to pay for his new computer

first of all i downloaded a payroll program that is used all over the coutry as i was stuck at his place and had to turn in my hours. IT would never give a vrus as the whole country uses it.

Also what about anti virus. or a technician to repair? plus why would he sue me through an attorney where is a bill and proof of repair or proof i did it?

I doubt his damages are over $7,500. If it's $7,500 or less, he has to do it in small-claims court, and no attorney is allowed to represent him in court (but can prepare his papers). As far as a bill and proof you did it, it's more of his words against you so he doesn't seem to have much of a case unless he has corroborating evidence.

If you are sued in small claims court, present whatever documents, evidence, testimony and arguments you have in court. If this is in Superior Court for high value, suggest you hire an attorney that can handle it right. Feel free to contact me if serious about doing so.
