can i legally remove an adult child from a home i am renting? he made a verbal agreement to pay part of the rent each month and is now almost 6 months behind on payment.

You could try to evict him by filing Unlawful Detainer court action. You can get the forms package from your local court to do it yourself, or you could hire an 'eviction service' you can find in the yellow pages. .

Yes, but only through regular eviction procedures. That the tenant is your child does not give either of you any additional rights against the other.
