Judgments 'hit' the credit reports almost immediately upon entry by the courts.

Check yours to see if it is on already.

You can file a motion to set aside the judgment up to six months after notice of entry of judgment is filed and served. If you can prove you never got notice, you can try to file late through a proper Motion to do so.

If the amount of the judgment is large enough to make it worth spending the money to file such motion, AND if you actually have legal and factual defenses to the original lawsuit that would have allowed you a reasonable chance to defend and 'win' the suit, then you can hire an attorney to do this for you. Feel free to contact me if serious about doing so, if the case is in SoCal courts.
