Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
First off I dont know if I posted in the right category but thank you for reading,
Can anyone tell me the law in regards to filming people,
I was in the deans office today at my local community college
and we had a meeting with 3 other students and the dean,,, I took out my camera to record the meeting with out telling anyone I was going to record, I pressed record and the Dean told me to turn it off, I did not I just lowered my camera and said if it was ok to just record the audio, so she got on the phone to call the campus sheriff, She got very angry at that point I turned off the camera not knowing what to make of the sudden burst of anger from the Dean.... So to make the story short, I was expelled from school for " For refusing to comply" The sheriff made a report and I was spelled..
My questions are.. Is that possible?? to get spelled for filming in the school
and two, will the police report reflect bad on me in the future in the pursuit of a law enforcement career?

Expelled, not spelled. You can't record people in California without their permission.
