Re: question about the gifted car by my employer who is asking money now

Hello!

Not too much info given, but here is my response nonetheless.

Assumption that the car is now and has been since the gift, "titled" to you via paperwork at the DMV. If not, no proof of gift. If so, that would be proof of gift.

Assumption that the "gift" was some time ago. Further proof of gift.

Assuming no letters at or about the time you got the vehicle about payment, debt, debt forgiveness, etc. Good facts for you.

Assumption: your relationship with the "boss" is much more than just this car. Be very careful. Gender issues, work stress, favoritism, hostile work environment all may come into play.

I hope this has helped you with your inquiry.

Regards,

Re: question about the gifted car by my employer who is asking money now

How do I know your employer gave you a car? What proof do you have? What is the relationship between you and your employer? Is there a writing? Was there any detrimental reliance? Did you do favors for the car? Is it an old car that he just wanted to dump and you were the closest person standing next to him at the time?

Without any facts, it's impossible to properly answer your question. However, Mr. Geyer did provide some good ideas for you to consider.

Good luck.
