Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
I redesigned and built the website for Clearmag.com. The agreement was to pay half the amount in the beginning, the second half when work was completed. A contract was signed. They have yet to pay the outstanding balance of $2,750.00. I have sent many letters and emails which have been ignored or in the rare case they've responded; told to be patient. It's been nearly 4 months. What can I do?

Although difficult because you probably want to maintain a good relationship with them, your only alternative is to file a small claims lawsuit against the company and, perhaps, its owners. You can ask for the principal amount plus interest from when it became due at a simple annual interest rate of 10 percent. Good luck!
Sue or not, in Small Claims Court, it's your choice.
If you are tired of waiting and do not want to do anymore business with them go ahead and sue them in small claims court. If you sue them in small claims court you don't have to hire a lawyer. Otherwise you could ask them to make partial payments. If they refuse then they are not acting in good faith and you should go ahead and sue them.
