slander
Help! I was involved with a women of 2 years didnt live with her or her with me, i broke off the relationship and prior to this she owed me money that i loaned her( have proof ) i tried to collect the owed monies via email, phonecalls ect. with no luck! i told her that i was going to take her to small claim, i filed and had her served, 2 days later my employer ( cities Risk manager and cities attorney ) called me in and told me that this women ( she wouldnt give a name ) said she had a relationship with me and that i am now ''stocking '' her and ''Threating''her and i was doing this on co.time( this is so false) and that the city needs to stop this and that would have a rto on me.i was served w/ this 3 days later and so was the Fire dept in which i was trying to be employed.I went to court and the judge found that she was not creditable ( had 10 letters from co-workers,superviser and mr prist on my behalf ) and ruled in my favor but the damage was done and the city hired someone eles( i currently work for the city but not for fire)the city had a report made of this aliagation and now its part of my employment record! Do i have a slander case?

Re: slander
Slander requires proof of false statement, made knowingly to harm you. If you can prove that, you have a case. Are you willing to spend a bunch of money in attorney fees and costs pursuing her; does she have substantial assets that you could collect against; or would you be just throwing good money after bad? If it is worth doing, and you want to do so, contact me to discuss facts and costs.
Re: slander
From facts provided, yes you do. However, costly and must know she has money. If get a judgment and not able to collect, may not be worth hassle. Call to discuss Don Holben 800-685-6950
