Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
What can I do to get someone to stop harassing me. Someone in my building has been harassing me for nearly a year. Everytime he sees me on the elevator or in the lobby or mailroom, he blocks entranceways, allows his two dogs to attack mine, curses me out when he sees me on the street, etc. Last month we had a serious verbal altercation after he refused to let me on elevator and later, approached me in street, cursing me out, and this followed into lobby. I called the police, noted the incident and was told to file for a restraining order. I went to file for a restraining order, and was denied and given a court date. I appeared in court (he did not show up) and the Judge dismissed it saying he did not physically come after me. After I returned from court, he continues to harass me. He has not gotten physical but feels he can harass me now all he wants. What can I do to stop this?

If you have new grounds for it, try again filing for a civil restraining order, this time supported by proof of threats of harm sufficient to convince the judge.
