Re: can i sue the homeowner
If there were no decals at eye-level, you might make a claim for negligence with the homeowner's insurance carrier first. It becomes a question of whether you knew that the door existed, your condition (had you been drinking alcohol before that?), whether the homeowner had opened the door -- and you thought it was open -- and then closed it, etc.
I hope you're healing well.

You may be able to get relief, but more facts are needed. For example, was the any thing in the glass to warn you (i.e. Some type of markings or lines), or did the door have shatter proof glass. Also, it is important to know when the glass door was installed so that one can look into uniform building code for compliance.
Re: can i sue the homeowner
Sure, anybody can sue anybody for anything. In your case, if you can show it was his fault, if the glass did not comply with code, then you may have a valid claim. If you are seriously injured, with substantial medical bills, yes, feel free to contact me for legal help.
