Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
Being Sued
I was in a car accident two years ago. It was minor(police did not even come out and file report) but my fault. I hear nothing and now two years later they are suing me for $48,000 for medical expense, I have been in contact with my insurance and they only cover $25,000. I make vary little and own nothing. Will they take from my wages for the rest of my life?

Do you have an attorney? You need to explore all possible avenues of defense. In most of these type of cases the insurance company will settle for your policy limits. You should reall see an attorney.
Re: Being Sued
It's possible that eventually they'll settle within the limits of your insurance policy. Your insurance carrier will appoint an attorney to represent you. Make sure to send the summons and complaint to your carrier and ask it to defend you.
Re: Being Sued
It is most likely they will settle at some point with your carrier. You appear to be judgment proof so the only money they can get is from your insurance carrier.
Re: Being Sued
Turn it over to your insurance and stop worrying. What the other side 'asks for' is irrelevant to what the case is worth. It will almost never result in you having to pay anything yourself.
