Pet Owners rights to receive a prescription for medication by other than Vet off
My Vet will not write me a prescription for my pet. He insists I buy the prescripion only from him. I can buy the medication from an online Pet RX co at 1/3 the price! I feel this is extortion. He already charged me for the office visit, blood test & X-rays. Do I have a right to the prescription??

yes, from the facts given, you are perfectly within your rights to fill the same prescription for less money elsewhere. if you would like further assistance, email me and let me know how i can be of help to you in this matter.

Did you ask your vet the reason why he would not write you a prescription? If he/she does not give you a reasonably logical and acceptable response I guess it will be considered unprofessional and unethical conduct which you can report to the appropriate licensing Board.
As for you having a RIGHT to prescription, I am not sure if you can force the vet to give you one. Good luck.
