Abuse and Dependent status

I am sick of my Husband's behaviuor. He is abusing me and beating physically frequently.He on H1 and i am on H4 dependent visa. Can i lodge a complaint against him to protect my self. I have no intention to live with him any more.I have been suffering for the last 7 years.What will be my status after the complaint here? I have my relatives to support me here. Do i need to go back to my home country or can i stay here as long my H4 is valid? Pl advise .

You need a consultation as to your own qualification. If you're married, you can keep the H-4 but you're better off if you split up even before divorce is final checking into your other options. Without doing that you'd be without immigration status.
