Hi,

If you obtained your green card based on marriage to a U.S. citizen, and you are still married, then you can apply for naturalization (U.S. citizenship) 2 years and 9 months from the "resident since" dated noted on your green card. We have additional information here: http://h1b1.com/citizenship.htm

You can call our law firm at 212-268-3580 during business hours if you have questions, or send email to [email protected]

The time period required for naturalization is 3 years (can apply 3 months prior) if you obtained your green card as a self-petitioner under VAWA, or married to the same US citizen for 3 years.

Of course, an applicant must meet all other Naturalization requirements.

You can file your application for naturalization in 4 years and 9 months since you received your green card. However, if you have obtained your permanent resident status based on your marriage to a US Citizen, you can apply for the US Citizenship in three years since obtaining a green card, provided that you are still married.
