Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Citizenship & Marriage

First of all, thank you for all of your assistance. I have my cizitenship oath ceremony until August 28, 2009. My question is could I get marry before the oath ceremony? My fiance and I have everything planned and invitations have been sent out to our relatives. We have been living together for 12 years and have two kids. Will there be any negative effect? Also, is there a form that I will have to fill out at the oath ceremony. Thank you, I know that I will have to write on the marriage license certificate as legal resident for me.

Re: Citizenship & Marriage

You can marry, of course. You will have to notify the USCIS about any change in your marital status, address, other material circumstances immediately.

Re: Citizenship & Marriage

You can reschedule. If you don't show up and do nothing, the case will be denied and you'd have to do a motion to reopen to get yourself rescheduled. Don't change your wedding date! That's more trouble than it's worth.
