Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

I have been with my girlfriend for such a long time(since childhood). Upon her visting me two summers ago, I surprised her by proposing and marrying her in a registry. The problem now is that she is legally a UK citizen.Does that mean our marriage certificate is not valid or can I file papers to adjust this anormality.

This is not an abnomality, as you put it.

I understand that you legally married your wife in USA, and she is a UK citizen.

Is she still in USA? If so, did you apply for her green card?

If she is in USA, she needs to obtain a legal resident status (green card). Marriage to a US citizen by itself doesn't give her a legal status in USA. You need to petition for her as a US citizen husband.

For immigration purposes, a marriage is valid if valid where performed. If you were married in a place that restricts who can marry there which applies to you, then you could have a problem, but without knowing more, I can't say. I doubt the place of marriage is a problem.

Congratulations in culminating your relationship after your history. That's very nice to hear about.

You may apply for her green card if she is inside the United States.
