Re: Green card

Dear Inquirer:

The background clearance check should not take longer than six months. It involves a combination of the FBI name check and clearances from other international law enforcement databases.

I recommend that you email me at [email protected] or visit www.hanlonlawgroup.com if you would like to schedule a consultation to discuss this matter further.

Re: Green card

Sometimes background checks may take many months. It depends on several factors, one of them is your country of origin, prior criminal history, similarity of name and date of birth to other people's, etc.

The USCIS recently announced that they solved FBI backlogs that they used to have in the past, so in most of the cases it should not take too long (approx. 3 months).

Yes, there are several background clearance checks involved, not only FBI check.

Re: Green card

Lately, the checks are usually complete before the interview, but occasionally they're not done then. That concerns me because the FBI has gotten much faster than they were a couple of years ago when delay due to checks was a problem for so many people. In all likelihood, it means that you have a common name and that another with your name could have had problems they're checking to be sure that person is not you.
