Legal Question in Immigration Law in California
My Husband came into the U.S with a Visa E-1 in the year of 1997, his visa will expire this coming August 2010. We have been married 2 months but don't live in the same state. I am worried that because of that we might not be able to fill for his papers.
Do you have any idea how long the process of getting his permanent residency may take? Or if the fact that we don't live together right now might be a problem?

It sounds like you have taken advantage of the dual intent to petition for permanent residency?? Were you named as a dependent in the petition? Because of the recent marriage, do you have dependent status under the E-1? I can tell you how long the process is, if I know what service center was filed with?
