Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

I am married to a permanent US resident. My husband would like to petition for my legal status through from I-130.

I would like to know how possible it is for me to obtain legal residentship and a pardon to enter the country.

This is my situation:

I entered the country illegally in 2001 when I was 16 years old. I have never applied for legalization before. I am from Nicaragua.

Thanks,

Tamara Alvarado

It will not be easy. Currently, our immigration law doesn't provide for adjustment of status for people in your situation. If you go abroad to apply for a visa, you will be barred for 10 years and a waiver of inadmissibility will be required in addition to a visa.

I suggest, you consult a knowledgeable immigration attorney. I usually send a 7-page questionnaire before I can properly advise a client.
