Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

M-Visa Dependents

I'm going to the US to study under M-1 visa, I want my dependents to follow me in few months. Will I need to prove that I have enough money before they can get the visa? How long will it take before they can get the visa after applying and what is the procedure?

Re: M-Visa Dependents

Your dependents (spouse and children) qualify for M-2 status by presenting a properly endorsed page 4 of you Form I-20M-N if you're still studying at the same program. If you have an M-1 then they get M-2 visas; no need to prove any money. They would just apply at the same US consulate as you did. How long it takes is a matter varying with consulates around the world.
